Gilmour Wildlife Management Area (Tobacco Bend)

Formerly known as Tobacco Bend. A federal Missouri River mitigation habitat restoration project, of 1,800 acres. A shallow channel,or chute, has been created, which bisects the Tobacco Island floodplain. This results in an island of wetlands. The chute outlet is on Lower Tobacco Bend near river mile marker 586, and extends to marker 589. Grasslands and river bottom habitats.
