Trail into Wilderness Park Photo by Paul A. JohnsgardThis long and narrow park has about 20 miles of hiking and horseback trails. There are good stands of mature bur oak and riparian forest, and several species of owls are common (barred, eastern screech-owl and great horned owl), as well as several woodpeckers including red-bellied. It is probably the best Lincoln location for migrant warblers, and breeding songbirds include tufted titmouse (near its western limits), eastern bluebird, orchard and Baltimore orioles, and Carolina wren (near its northwestern range limits). A park checklist has 191 species.
